Li Marguerite (formerly known as Lisa Clark Augis)
Artist Bio...

Li (pronounced Lee) identifies as a creative being of many facets.

Li Marguerite (formerly known as Lisa Clark Augis) is a Columbus, Ohio–based jazz vocalist, songwriter, and recording artist with over four decades of experience on stage and in the studio. She brings a deep emotional connection to each song she sings, skillfully telling stories that resonate with audiences and foster a sense of unity.

Li’s performance career spans both solo work and collaborations with prominent local and national artists. She has been a featured vocalist with a wide range of ensembles across Central Ohio and beyond, including the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Vocal Impact, the Erik Augis Trio, and the Rick Brunetto Big Band, among many others. She has also had the honor of performing alongside local legends such as Hank Marr, Rusty Bryant, Gary Carney, Gene Walker, and Mark Flugge. In addition, she has lent her voice to numerous studio projects, including local artist recordings as well as radio and television jingles.

As a teaching artist and clinician, Li has developed and led music education programs, workshops, and residencies throughout Central Ohio, including partnerships with Jazz Arts Group, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Music Royale, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Columbus Public Schools, and various surrounding area schools. She was a founding member and leader of Jazz for Kids and the creator and director of The Colossal Joy Project—programs designed to inspire creativity, support arts preservation, and cultivate connection through music.

In addition to her work as an artist and educator, Li is a practicing therapist who has spent the past six years working in community mental health, where she brings creativity into the healing process. She has developed programming and facilitated groups, workshops, and experiences that invite individuals to explore both their inner and outer voices, supporting greater authenticity, clarity, and self-connection. Through performances and collaborative projects that join vocal expression with community engagement, Li continues to inspire partnerships that nurture resilience, belonging, and shared well-being.

Li has recorded two solo albums--Girl Blue and The Colossal Joy Project—and has contributed vocals to numerous recording projects. Her work reflects a deep belief in the healing and connective power of the arts, a theme she explores further as the author of Manifesting Colossal Joy and its companion coloring book.

Li studied voice and jazz pedagogy privately and at The Ohio State University and Capital University and continues to draw on this foundation as a lifelong learner and performer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Science, with an emphasis on voice study, and a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University with a specialization in health and aging. Her years of study inform her integrated approach to creativity, well-being, and community engagement.
Rooted in the Columbus arts scene, Li remains dedicated to creating, performing, and sharing music that fosters joy, resilience, and connection.

Music as Community-
Being a vocalist in the Columbus jazz and music community for many years has provided me with countless memorable performance experiences and, more importantly, has fostered deep, meaningful connections with others. This sense of community has brought immense joy to my life. The privilege of knowing so many unique and inspiring individuals who share a passion for music and a reverence for creativity—and of being part of a community that feels like family—has been, and continues to be, one of the greatest honors of my life.
